3CX Account Setup
Windows, iPhone and Android
3CX is the company phone system used to make and receive business calls.
You will receive a 3CX account setup email in your company email inbox. Keep this email available while completing the setup.
You will need:
Access to your company email.
Your Windows computer and/or mobile phone.
Microsoft Authenticator installed on your mobile phone.
1. Set Up Your 3CX Account
Open the email you received from 3CX.
The email will contain information about your new 3CX account and a link to set your password.
Open the Set your password link.
Create a strong and unique password for your 3CX account.
Do not reuse your Microsoft 365 password or another personal password.
Save the password in your company-approved credential manager if one has been provided.
Continue to the 3CX sign-in page.
You will normally sign in using your company email address or extension number and the password you have just created.
2. Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication
If Multi-Factor Authentication / Two-Factor Authentication is enabled for your account, 3CX will ask you to configure it during your first sign-in.
Use Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile phone.
If Microsoft Authenticator is not already installed, install it before continuing.
In Microsoft Authenticator
Open Microsoft Authenticator.
Tap the + icon or Add account.
Select the option to add another account as instructed on screen.
Use Microsoft Authenticator to scan the QR code displayed by 3CX.
Microsoft Authenticator will create a verification code for your 3CX account.
Enter the current verification code into 3CX when requested.
Complete the setup until 3CX confirms that Two-Factor Authentication has been successfully enabled.
Keep this Authenticator entry on your phone. You may need a current verification code when signing in to 3CX in the future.
Important: Your 3CX authentication code is sensitive. Never provide it to another person.
3. Windows Setup
Install the 3CX Windows App
After your account has been activated, sign in to your 3CX Web Client.
Use the Web Client address provided in your 3CX account email.
Then:
Sign in using your company email address or extension number.
Enter your 3CX password.
Enter your authentication code if requested.
In the 3CX Web Client, open Apps.
Select the Windows App.
Follow the option provided to install the 3CX Windows application.
Install the application on your Windows computer.
The current 3CX Windows softphone may also be installed through the Microsoft Store.
Connect Your Extension
Once the 3CX Windows application is installed:
Return to the 3CX Web Client.
Open Apps → Windows App.
Select Provision.
If your browser asks permission to open 3CX, select Open 3CX.
The 3CX application should open and automatically configure your company extension.
If you are signing in directly from the Windows application instead, you may be asked for:
Your company's 3CX URL.
Your company email address or extension number.
Your 3CX password.
Your 2FA verification code.
Once provisioning is complete, your extension should appear in the 3CX Windows application.
4. iPhone / iPad Setup
Install 3CX
Open the Apple App Store.
Search for 3CX.
Confirm that you are installing the official 3CX application.
Tap Get.
Open the app after installation.
Enrol Your Extension
Keep your 3CX account email or Web Client open on another device, such as your Windows computer.
Then:
Open the 3CX app on your iPhone or iPad.
Select the option to Scan QR Code.
Allow 3CX to access your camera if requested.
Scan the 3CX QR code displayed in your account information or Web Client.
Wait while the application configures your extension.
Your extension should be provisioned automatically.
Allow Required Permissions
iOS may ask for permission to use:
Microphone.
Notifications.
Contacts, if permitted by company policy.
Allow Microphone and Notifications so that you can make, receive and be notified about business calls.
5. Android Setup
Install 3CX
Open the Google Play Store.
Search for 3CX.
Confirm that you are installing the official 3CX application.
Tap Install.
Open the app after installation.
Enrol Your Extension
Keep your 3CX account email or Web Client open on another device.
Then:
Open the 3CX app.
Select Scan QR Code.
Allow camera access if requested.
Scan the 3CX QR code displayed in your account information or Web Client.
Wait while 3CX automatically configures your extension.
Allow Required Permissions
Android may request permission to use:
Microphone.
Notifications.
Camera for enrolment.
Contacts, if permitted by company policy.
Allow the permissions required for calls and notifications.
6. Test Your 3CX Extension
Once setup is complete:
Open 3CX.
Confirm that your status shows as available or connected.
Check that your company extension is displayed.
Make a test call if instructed by your manager.
Confirm that you can hear the other party and that they can hear you.
Confirm that incoming calls produce a notification or ringtone.
If using a Windows computer, also check that the correct microphone, speakers or headset are selected in 3CX.
Important Security Information
Never share your 3CX password.
Never share your 2FA verification code.
Do not reuse your Microsoft 365 password for 3CX.
Only scan a 3CX enrolment QR code from your own company account or an authorised company setup process.
Do not approve or complete an authentication request you did not initiate.
Store work passwords only in the credential manager approved by your company.
