N-able Passportal Setup

Account Activation, MFA and Microsoft Edge Extension

N-able Passportal is your company's approved credential manager. It is used to securely store and access work-related usernames, passwords and other authorised credentials.

You will receive an email invitation to activate your Passportal account.

You will need:

  • Access to your company email.

  • Microsoft Edge.

  • Microsoft Authenticator installed on your mobile phone.

  • Your company Organisation Key, if provided separately.

 

1. Activate Your Account

Open the Passportal / N-able invitation email sent to your company email address.

  1. Open the account activation link in the email.

  2. Follow the instructions to activate your account.

  3. Create a strong and unique password.

Your Passportal password must:

  • Be unique and difficult to guess.

  • Not contain your name, surname or company name.

  • Not use simple or predictable words or number combinations.

  • Not be the same as your Microsoft 365 password.

  • Not be reused from another personal or work account.

 

2. Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication

N-able Login requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

When prompted during account activation or your first sign-in:

  1. Select the option to configure an Authenticator application.

  2. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile phone.

  3. Tap the + icon or Add account.

  4. Select the appropriate option to add another account.

  5. Scan the QR code displayed by N-able.

  6. Microsoft Authenticator will generate a rotating 6-digit verification code.

  7. Enter the current 6-digit code into the N-able setup screen.

  8. Complete the setup until your MFA registration is confirmed.

You may need to enter a new 6-digit Microsoft Authenticator code each time you sign in.

Important: Never share your MFA code with anyone.

 

3. Install the Passportal Extension in Microsoft Edge

Open Microsoft Edge.

Go to the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store (https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com) and search for:

N-able Passportal

Then:

  1. Select N-able Passportal.

  2. Click Get.

  3. Review the browser permission message.

  4. Click Add extension.

  5. Wait for the installation to complete.

Pin Passportal to the Edge Toolbar

To make Passportal easy to access:

  1. Click the Extensions icon in the top-right corner of Microsoft Edge.

  2. Find N-able Passportal.

  3. Select the option to show or pin it on the toolbar.

The Passportal icon should now appear near the top-right corner of Microsoft Edge.

 

4. Sign In to the Passportal Extension

Click the N-able Passportal extension icon in Microsoft Edge.

When asked for your Passportal region:

Select: Australia

Then choose:

Log in with N-able

Always use “Log in with N-able” to access your company Passportal account.

You will be redirected to the N-able sign-in page.

Enter your:

  1. Company email address.

  2. N-able password.

  3. Microsoft Authenticator 6-digit MFA code when requested.

If Passportal asks for your Organisation Key, enter the Organisation Key provided by the link shared on the welcome PDF file.

Complete the sign-in process.

When the key icon change to purple color, the process is done ok, if not, try to re-sign in again.

 

5. Using Passportal

Once signed in, the Passportal extension allows you to securely access company-approved credentials directly from Microsoft Edge.

Depending on your permissions, you may be able to:

  • Search for company credentials.

  • Open approved websites.

  • Automatically fill usernames and passwords.

  • Generate strong passwords.

  • Access credentials assigned to you.

Only access credentials required for your work.

Do not copy company passwords into personal notes, spreadsheets, documents, emails or messaging applications.

 

7. Future Sign-ins

Whenever you need to sign in again:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the N-able Passportal extension.

  3. Select Australia if asked for the region.

  4. Select Log in with N-able.

  5. Enter your company email address.

  6. Enter your N-able password.

  7. Enter the 6-digit Microsoft Authenticator code if requested.

Always use:

Australia → Log in with N-able

 

Important Security Information

  • Never share your Passportal password.

  • Never share your Organisation Key with unauthorised people.

  • Never share your MFA verification code.

  • Do not reuse your Microsoft 365 password for Passportal.

  • Do not save work passwords in your browser's personal password manager unless specifically authorised by your company.

  • Do not export or copy company credentials into personal applications or documents.

  • Only approve or enter MFA codes for sign-ins you initiated yourself.

  • Lock your computer whenever you leave it unattended.

If you receive an unexpected login request, MFA request or account activation email, do not proceed. Contact TECHNOTIC or your manager for assistance.
